Introducing Tourell - Perspectives

This series offers quiet glimpses into the people and stories that inspire me. From friends and makers to thinkers and creators, each shares their unique perspective on life, craft, and the values that shape them. It’s a space to reflect, connect, and discover what drives us.

I’m starting this series by sharing a personal chapter - my own wedding. A quiet ceremony at the town hall with my husband and our two kids, one of the first warm summer days in Copenhagen, Denmark. No grand gestures, just us.

Townhall Wedding in Copenhagen

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself more at ease in the background, not one for the spotlight. So when Frederik and I decided to marry, we knew we wanted it to be simple and intimate. A beautiful ceremony in a hand-painted room at the top of the town hall, known for its stunning decoration of old Danish folk tales about courtship and marriage, followed by a stop in the town hall garden. Afterwards, we celebrated with something familiar - a stop at a Danish hotdog stand. It felt perfect, merging our needs with the kids’, creating a memory that was ours alone.

My view of marriage has shifted over time. I never pictured a fairytale wedding or a long white dress. I’ve always found it a bit more sexy, not to be married. A bit more rock and roll. But having kids changed it. Marriage became less about some ceremonial “forever” and more about making it real, about cementing the fact that it’s “the four of us” - a unit. It’s about the moments that lead up to forever. The real work: being a team, caring for each other, evolving together - but also giving each other space to grow on your own, to evolve as individuals while staying connected.

The wedding ring has always been a symbol of marriage - carved from precious metals and glittering stones, a statement of meaning and worth. But when I thought about what my ring should symbolize, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. So I had to look at it differently. I wanted it to be something pure, something beautiful. A piece I could go all in on, creating a dream ring I wouldn’t have otherwise. Rather than trying to fit it into the weight of too many symbols, I chose to see it as a reminder of my family, a lasting piece of our story.

My ring is a bold mix of 18k yellow and white gold, twisted together with diamonds sprinkled on top - because sometimes, you go big for the moments that matter. Frederik’s ring takes a more classic approach, inspired by the signet ring, but with a twist - a rounded yellow gold band that mirrors the shape of mine.

The two rings are different, but familiar. They stand on their own, but when you look at them together, you see the connection.

And that brings us back to the beginning.
